To help your child prepare for these tests they should be sure to eat a healthy breakfast and get a good night's sleep.  Words of encouragement  before they leave the door are always helpful.  The district website has  math and ELA practice tests that the students can go to for practice.  We have done this in class so they should know what to do.

If anyone would like to send in a healthy snack for our testing days, I know the kids would love it.

Math -  Our new unit is  on Fractions and the students will begin working in their Volume 2 books.   We have been working on factors and multiples, prime and composite numbers.  I will give a lesson review graded assignment on Thursday of this week. The students will begin exploring equivalent fractions.

Spelling - The students will work with words that have an ed or ing ending.  They will be responsible for page 252-254.  There will not be a pretest this week because of PARCC testing.

English - We will continue our work with adjectives.  The students will practice using special articles a, an, and the.

Reading - The students will read the poem "Some People" and use the ideas from the poem to compare and contrast the character of  Pelegrina to the boys on the ship.  They will read about the first major event in Edward's life and  discuss how the author writes to show how this affected Edward.

Science -  We will review functions of the digestive, circulatory, and respiratory, systems.  The students will understand the job of the red and white blood cells.  They will also be able to understand and explain what happens to your body when you get a cut.

Social Studies - The students will continue to work on their Midwest "Just Look Books".
