The students will also be working on their independent reading project.  They should have a fiction book that they have been reading.  They will be completing a project that goes with this book throughout the week.  Each night they should be reading to complete their book by Friday, Feb. 5.

English-The students will understand that similes are comparisons between two unlike things that have something in common,  and they use the words like or as in them. They will  find similes in the different texts that they are reading, and we will discuss how they help the reader understand and visualize the text better.  They will also practice using similes in their writing.
