News from Mrs. Cavoto's Room Feb. 28-March 4

Remember: Since this is a testing week, the students should try to get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring a healthy snack.

Math - ISAT Testing. This will be a great time to work on multiplication and division facts at home.

Spelling - No spelling this week.

Reading - ISAT testing - Work on Poetry at home. Plan on doing one activity an evening for your poetry booklet. Poetry Booklets are due on March 8.

English- This week Adverbs will be introduced. The students will know that adverbs tell when, where, and how. Many adverbs begin with ly.

Science - You may want to ask your child about the electromagnets that we made in class last week. What did we use to make them? What did they do? What do they make a compass do?
What are some ways that electro magnets are used in our everyday life? This week we the students will learn about generators and motors - How are they alike and how are they different?

Social Studies - The students will be able to explain some of the events that forced the Native American tribes in the Midwest to give up their land. They will compare and contast a home built out of sod and one built out of logs by the settlers and understand some of the difficuties the settlers faced in farming the land.
