News From Mrs. Cavoto's Room Feb. 2-6

Important Dates to Remember:

February 20th-Geat America Sheets are due

In my homeroom a Scholastic book club order form will go home on Wednesday. Please have them turned in by Monday, Feb. 9th if you would like to place an order. Make checks payable to Scholastic. Thank you.


Spelling - This week the pattern is 1 + 1 + 1 words and ending that begin with consonants.

Reading- This week the students will be assessed on their knowledge of summarizing and cause effect skills. The students will read passages and show their understanding of the information given in the passage through mulitple choice questions. They will also practice writing responses to questions asked about the passage.

English This week the students will have a test over adjectives in unit 4. They will have homework assignments that will help them to review. They should bring their books home each night to review the skills in each lesson. They will also finish their "Hot Spot" writing.

Math - In Math this week the students will review finding the mean, median and mode of a set of numbers. They will learn how to use line plots and stem and leaf Plots to read and organize data. Please practice these skills with your students. They will be tested on their 3 division facts on Friday.

Science This week in science the students will be studying how energy changes form. They will learn about potential energy and kinetic energy. They will understand how people produce electricity from other forms of energy.

Social Studies A test over chapter 8 is planned for Friday of this week.
