News from Mrs. Cavoto's Room May 16-May20

Math- We will have a math test on Wednesday of this week over unit 6. The students should study the papers in their folders as well as the workbook pages that go along with the unit.  Practice sheets will go home to help the children practice the skills they need to know for the test.

Spelling- A new list of words will come home this week. The students will complete a page in the packet each day this week.  The spelling test will cover the words and vocabulary on the sheet that goes home on Monday.

Reading/ELA-

Social studies- There will be a test over Chapter 10, Land and Resources of the Southwest on Friday of this week. The students should study the main concepts in their textbook along with all vocabulary.  They should also know the information from the sheets in their binders.

What state has laboratories that develop military resources and study nuclear energy?
Give two details to explain how oil has been important to the development of the Southwest: Use your worksheets to help you answer this.


We will have our taste of the Southwest on Friday of this week as well. We will have Cactus juice (Green Hawaiin Punch), tortilla chips and salsa.

Science- The students will begin a new unit of study this week- The Rock Cycle.  The students will understand what minerals are and they will identify three types of rocks.

Directions for the construction of catapults went home last week.   We will be launching our marshmallows on Tuesday of this week
