It is so important for them to know their facts as we move into problems that have a higher level of difficulty.

Spelling - In spelling this week the students will be working with words that have the sounds of ou and ow. There will be a test on Thursday of this week since there is no school on Friday.

- This week, we will focus on the reading comprehension skill known as sequence of events. Recognizing the order of events in a story makes it easier to understand the story. Clue words such as first, later, then, and finally signal sequence.

We will continue to read Winn Dixie. There will be a vocabulary and comprehension quiz over chapters 11-26 on Thursday, November 17. The vocabulary words will go home at the beginning of the week. They should begin to study now so that by test time, it will just be a simple review.

English - The students will work on using commas in sentences correctly. They will identify quotations in sentences and use quotation marks before and after a direct quotation, and they will understand the difference between a direct and indirect quotation. There will be a test over chapter 5 on Wednesday, November 16th.

Science - We will begin a new unit this week. The essential question is How do the bodies of animals help them meet their needs? What are the basic needs of living things?
