Trimester ends on Friday of this week.
The DuPage Museum will come to school and work with our class on machines on Thursday of this week.
Reading This week the students will work on writing responses to their reading. They will use clues from their reading and their own ideas to write a response.
They will also use their knowledge of the different informational text patterns to compare and show their understanding of reading passages. They will read different stories and compare the topics and themes of those stories.
English They will finish their descriptive ads this week and share them with the class. They will work on using adjectives to compare with.
The students will have a test over adjectives this week on Thursday.
Social Studies The students will learn about the Badlands of South Dakota. They will study the landscape and climate of 67 million years ago and how it has changed. They will compare the prairie to the badlands.
Science The students will investigate in order to determine the effect of the surface of a ramp on the distance a vehicle travels. They will organize data into charts and graphs and interpret the data. The children will understand what a force is and determine the kind of force used to work a tool.
Math This week the students will use money to solve problems. They will work on their problem solving skills and write to explain what and why they did each step.
There will be a test on Wednesday over chapter 5 in their textbook. They should bring their books home to help them study the problems solving and the different skills from this chapter.
Division 5 timed test will be given on Friday.
