Math - In math this week, we will review elapsed time, and the kids will have a quiz on elapsed time on Thursday of this week. The students will also work on using algebra to change units of time. They will learn that when you go from a shorter unit to a longer unit you need to divide, for example: How many minutes in 3 hours. 60 divided by 3. When you go from a longer unit to a shorter unit you multiply, for example how many days are in 2 years? 365 x 2. Calculators will be allowed while we are doing this section.
Spelling This week in spelling the students will be working with words that have the sounds of /k/, /ng/, and /kw/. They will be responsible for workbook pages 9-11 in volume 2, or activities. There will be a test on Friday.
English- The students will review singular and plural nouns. They will write the nouns ending with y and irregular plural nouns correctly. They will also form possessive singular nouns correctly.
Reading - We will be working on predicting outcomes. Readers can often guess ahead of
time, or predict, what will happen in a story, based on information the author
has given. Additionally, readers can change or adjust their predictions as they
read.
Social Studies - The students will be working with Inspiration, a computer program, to make a timeline of the Cherokee Life from the 1400's-2000.
Science- In science this week, the students will review animal adaptations. The students will identify and classify animals according to their physical and behavioral adaptations this week.
