News From Mrs. Cavoto's Class February 8-15th

The students will be taking the IOWA tests this week. The best way to prepare for this test is for the children to get plenty of sleep and eat a hearty breakfast. Don't forget a mid-morning snack, the students will need it after a long morning of testing.

Valentine's party will be on Thursday, February 14th at 1:30. The children will be able to pass out Valentines. They should just remember one for everyone. There are 23 students and I will send home a list on Monday.

No spelling test due to IOWA testing

Reading The students will continue to work on making inferences this week. They will also work on the strategies of predicting future outcomes and purpose, relevance, and informational Text features.

Science The students will determine if specific parrellel circuits and series circuits will light. They will learn about electricity and magnetism and make their own electromagnets.

Math - The students will review how to multiply two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. They will work on the problem solving skill of making a table. You may see worksheets coming home with daily warm-ups on them. These are to help the students review skills that they have been taught in the past, but may have forgotten. The children may need your help on these skills, and I appreciate any help you may give them in refreshing their memories.

I will give the students the division 4 timed test on Friday of this week.

Social Studies .To think about and know.... What are the Great Lakes and how were they formed? What are the names of the five Great Lakes? How do the Great Lakes connect the Midwest with the rest of the world? We would love for you to bring in any information, artifacts, pictures, etc. about the landscape and or climate of Midwest Region.
